Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, People Services, you will coordinate and advise on people services functions for employees and volunteers.  This includes coordinating and advising on People Services policies and systems; supporting the development and implementation of various People Services programs; and preparing various documents, reports, and communications.

In this role you will:

  • Build effective working relationships with employees and volunteers providing first level advice on a wide range of matters including CRC policies and legislation, leaves of absence, performance/disciplinary documentation and process, training and development opportunities and career development with a client focused approach
  • Counsel supervisors on a wide range of People Services policies, systems and programs in consultation with the Senior Business Partner
  • Participate in special projects as designated in support of an assigned client group
  • Deliver training to supervisors and workers on People Services programs and systems (e.g., career planning, My Time, Taleo)
  • Complete the processing of new hire documentation and employee status changes while ensuring accuracy and liaising with PS Central Shared Services team for processing into the Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
  • Prepare letters, contracts and supporting documentation for employees and volunteers as required
  • Generate and format various reports for the People Services teams and for clients; interpret and provide recommendations on actions (e.g., workforce reports, exit interviews, new hire surveys)
  • Support the coordination of the health and safety program including Incident / Near Miss Report Forms as well as WCB forms and facilitate training or educational sessions on various topics
  • Flag complex issues with the Senior Business Partner as appropriate
  • Keep the broader People Services team informed of the operational activities and requirements of their client group
  • In times of an emergency or disaster, is part of the PS response roster and may be called upon to fill a role within the HR emergency response structure or cover additional business continuity duties within the department

We’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, business or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an HR generalist or combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Human Resources designation or working towards is an asset
  • Fluency (speaking, reading and writing) in English and French is required
  • Demonstrated experience providing operational HR counsel to client groups, experience and knowledge of employee relations and HR risk management
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills with the ability to effectively execute assigned tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and build positive internal and external relationships
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Public speaking or facilitation skills are required
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Computer and numerical literacy, comfort working with data bases, metrics and applicant tracking system
  • Experience in volunteer management is an asset
  • Ability to work some non-traditional and longer hours often on short notice especially during times of emergency response, travel within Canada may be required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete an Enhanced Police Information check and Driver’s Abstract
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification or willingness to take training
