Reporting directly to the Director, Contract Management Unit the responsibilities of the Financial Analyst include performing several functions to meet operational and contractual requirements that support the effective management of various humanitarian emergencies and development projects. This position is specifically accountable for development of systems for effective project financial management, ensuring the funds are used for the intended purpose, donor compliance requirements, support the development of project proposal budgets, provide analysis on project expenditure against budgets, investigating variances and provide risk mitigation.

This role involves project accounting cycle , continuous review, update and analysis of the portfolio performance of programs to ensure adequate planning, forecasting and measurement of the team budget targets.  The incumbent is expected to provide support, technical advice, and capacity building to Country Office staff.

What you offer:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Finance Officer or Analyst
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in contracts negotiations with various Government agencies, international UN agencies & private donors
  • An ability to readily see the financial and reporting implications of the terms and conditions in donor contracts
  • A thorough understanding of budgetary processes and variance analysis
  • A thorough understanding of accounting processes as they impact on the overall financial system
  • A good appreciation of the need to provide timely and reliable information to senior management and to donors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance personnel in a simple manner, without the technical / accounting jargon
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (a valid passport will be required)
  • Strong computer skills specifically in Excel, Outlook and the Windows operating environment
