The Canadian Red Cross Society, a not for profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is currently seeking a Translator.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Translation Services, at National Office, the incumbent provides translation services to the Canadian Red Cross Society. Responsibilities include: translating a variety of material from English to French and vice versa in a timely manner and in accordance to high quality standards as well as assisting in maintaining and expanding the in-house terminology.




Translation Services

  • Translates as required various sources from English to French and vice versa at an average of 1,500 words per day.
  • Translates, mainly from English to French, in a timely manner, a variety of material including web content, internal and external communications, presentations, training manuals, etc.
  • Produces high quality translations in accordance with style standards and terminology in use at the Canadian Red Cross.
  • Completes assigned projects in a timely manner, according to the priorities, deadlines and production schedule established by the Manager of Translation Services.
  • Report progress and status of work to Translation Services Manager 

     Contribute to overall quality and efficiency of the Translation Services team

  • Researches terminology related to assigned projects and supports the creation of internal glossaries and terminology databases, based on reputable sources.
  • Delivers product on time and in accordance with quality criteria.
  • Provides timely updates to the Translation Manager as required.
  • Act as the Translation Services on-call point-of contact on a rotational basis during weekends.
  • Occasional requirement to work additional hours during emergency appeals.
  • Performs other duties as required. 


  • Completion of post-secondary education or diploma in Translation or in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in translation from English to French.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in French and English.
  • Excellent knowledge and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software as well as translation memory software (e. g. LogiTerm).
  • Excellent customer service and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Must be flexible and motivated, with a proven ability to multi-task and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
