Save the Children is conducting clinical research and evaluation. The Research Manager will serve a pivotal role in implementing and managing this research. The Research Manager will provide program management and tactical technical guidance for multiple projects at the same time. Under the guidance of the Senior Advisor, this position is responsible for ensuring our sustained global technical leadership role in clinical research and evaluation.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
This position is intended to provide clinical research management. The Research Manager will assist in the leadership of activities generally associated with the conduct of clinical trials. Under supervision of the Senior Advisor, the Research Manager will facilitate the collection and analysis of data, build effective relationships within the team and with partners, and perform the following activities:
- Conduct quantitative data analyses. Assist with development of statistical analysis plans and data analyses, including preparation of tables, graphs, figures, and other data reporting tools.
- Maintain various research databases and datasets: entering data, abstracting data, cleaning incoming data, performing queries.
- Anticipate, detect and report problems in research instruments, data collection, and/or data entry, and proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Support training and technical assistance to research staff involved in data collection, data entry, or data quality review.
- Ensure data quality through development of standard operating procedures, training materials, and other quality assurance practices.
- Facilitate availability of data for use by the study team for presentations, reports and publication.
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of multiple or large-scale research studies and clinical trials.
- Manage project activity timelines, study budgets, and tracking documents for management of study, site progress, and logistics.
- Contribute to the design of protocols, informed consent forms, protocol‑specific data collection tools, materials, and research databases in collaboration with the study team.
- Facilitate communications with regulatory bodies and ethics review committees, including new study applications, adverse event reporting, and protocol deviations.
- Coordinate study site initiation activities with investigators, and study team.
- Monitor adherence to study protocols and procedures, and submit routine progress reports to relevant institutional review boards.
- Work closely with Award Manager on issues related to budget, grant compliance and financial issues.
- Draft study reports and manuscripts in collaboration with the study team.
- Process data requests from the study team and collaborating partners.
- Assist in donor reporting activities.
- Coordinate and document study communications, including conference calls, donor meetings, and investigator meetings.
- Conduct literature reviews to identify research and emerging data relevant to the project.
- You have a minimum 3-5 years' experience in area of expertise.
- A minimum of a High School diploma is required.
- Experience in quantitative data analysis with ability to use statistical software such as STATA, SAS, or SPSS.
- Experience in the design, development, and management of electronic database systems such as REDCap or OpenClinica.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and highly flexible individual who is able to work independently and as a team with strong interpersonal skills, and who can manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve problems and find effective and efficient ways to accomplish goals.
- Ability to build effective relationships with peers and managers. Relates well to all kinds of people.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to synthesize information.
- International travel up to 30% time may be required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
